This preliminary pencil study was the first sketch I did in preparation for the Elora Festival poster painting I was commission to create. I had free access to all of the shows and rehearsals in the summer of 1999, the summer prior to when the poster was to be ready. I originally saw these 3 musicians practicing in a church in Elora on a very hot and humid July day. The Angel Gabriel blowing his horn hung from the churches ceiling. I thought he would add to the overall spiritually and musicality of the scene.
